The guesthouse feels like a homestay. It's Japanese style with a spacious tatami living room, but with beds in the dormitory, very comfortable sleeping quarters. The toilet is in the garage just next to bedrooms, but there's no sink downstairs. You brush your teeth in the kitchen. There's a small oven and microwave, and tea bags. It's convenient to the Samurai street, and the onsen (700 ¥) is just 5 minutes away.

Since Kakunodate is small, it is easy to get anywhere. The place has bicycles that guests can use and there is a wonderful bike and walk trail near by. There is 7/11 just around the corner. The beds were specious and comfortable. Dormitory style. The owner speaks English and is very kind and helpful even though she wasn't there most of the time. we were helped by her to get transportation to the hike we went on.

Great location, close to the station and near the samurai houses. The host is very nice and helpful. She offered complimentary water, tea, and coffee along with some toiletries. The rooms were cozy, beds were comfortable, and had plenty of heaters and an AC. We loved the free bike rentals which are perfect for the area as it's all flat. Everything was very clean and we had strong wifi connection.

The guesthouse is ran by a very cheerful and helpful lady. The price was excellent fir a stay during peak sakura. The location is fine, though we had suitcases to drag the 15 minute walk from the train station. The room was small but beds comfortable. The shared toilet was just outside room but the shower is in an adjaceant building. The Japanese breakfast was very good.

Despite arriving to the property quite late, the host was very hospitable and took her time to explain and show all the facilities to me. Also the room I had was completely private and very spacious, with the sink and restroom being quite close. Pretty close to the main Kakunodate sightseeing spots, and having a bike rental option available was nice.
